Unit Pelaksana Transmisi Gandul is one of the units under PT PLN (Persero) that maintains the transmission network. The problems faced by the company are the inefficiency of the material picking process because the materials are arranged randomly, resulting in difficulty in identifying the materials in it, the length of the forklift material handling distance, and the increased risk of material damage and work accidents. The purpose of this study is to design a warehouse layout to reduce waste of motion, increase efficiency, and minimize the risk of work safety in the warehouse, as well as to determine the impact of changes in warehouse layout on material handling distance. This research uses the Class Based Storage method. The results of the analysis show that this method of warehouse layout design divides materials into three classes based on FSN Analysis: fast moving, slow moving, and non-moving. By allocating materials according to their class, waste of motion in the material picking process can be reduced. The forklift material handling distance is reduced by 39.56% in the U-Shaped layout and 41.27% in the L-Shaped layout. In addition, the warehouse layout also pays attention to OHS standards by providing red markings for the storage of materials that are dangerous and flammable, and materials that damage the environment.
